Ahimsa is the Buddhist term for the doctrine of non-harming.
The Zone of Ahimsa will be a day long celebration comprised of three separate but related events:

3:30 to 5:30 PM Peace Empowerment/Blessing
Venerable ZaChoeje Rinpoche, Spiritual Director of the Emaho Foundation, will lead a Peace Empowerment/Blessing. In Tibetan Buddhist tradition, an empowerment is a ritual which grants the participant permission to practice specific forms of meditation. This very special Peace Empowerment is non-denominational, open to everyone and aimed at awakening latent seeds of compassion in all who take part in this illuminating and inspiring ceremony.

5:30 to 7:30 PM Tibetan Bazaar
Following the Peace Empowerment, the courtyard of the New Vision center will be transformed into a colorful Tibetan Bazaar. The Emaho Peace Store will offer traditional Tibetan art, handicrafts, jewelry and other items of beauty and devotion for sale—just in time for Holiday gift giving. Food and other refreshments will be available, as will soothing massage, Tibetan astrological readings and other peaceful pursuits. Come relax under a traditional Tibetan tent and mingle with fellow Zone of Ahimsa Attendees.

7:30 to 9:30 PM Wish Fulfilling Jewel Concert
The event will open with a dedicatory poetry recitation by Za Rinpoche. Then Spirit Voyage recording artist Sat Kartar Khalsa will lead us in chants to awaken compassion and joy. A noted singer in the Sikh tradition and Kundalini yoga instructor now resident in Phoenix, Sat Kartar is deeply versed in the practice of Naad Yoga, the yoga of sound. Yoga Journal magazine has praised Sat Kartar’s “crystalline voice...an instrument imbued with a welcoming, almost maternal warmth and an evocative style of phrasing.” Other, very special musical guests will be announced as the Zone of Ahimsa Celebration draws near.

How You Can Help:

Emaho Foundation will host its 6th annual Zone of Ahimsa Peace Celebration on December 6, 2008. This will be an opportunity for Emaho friends, philanthropists, business leaders and community volunteers to enjoy and celebrate the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His work inspires us to participate as a community, to come together and show our appreciation to the many who are working to find solutions for humanity in peace.
